It feels like being in a fairy tale with the beautiful choras and the churches. The combination of that ever blue sky, the white painted houses, the crystal clear sea and the sound of goat bells will always stay in your heart.

They are wonderful! Here are some of the ones I've been to...
Santorini - unique, volcano, architecture, scenery.
Rhodes - history, architecture, night-life.
Simi - quiet, heavenly, monastery.
Thassos - green, friendly, good fresh food, quiet beaches, everything.
Samothraki - few tourists, scenery, fresh fish, archaeology, goats (thousands!)- live ones ! and delicious served up roasted on your plate!
Every island is a little different, with it's own mini-culture. What they all have in common is the good, fresh food, great weather, crystal clear waters and friendly people.
Try out some of the least 'touristy' ones like Thassos if you want to get to know the people too. Sadly, in some of the more crowded places the locals don't have time or the inclination to make friends...they're too busy making money!
Get a good guide book and make a choice...depending on the kind of holiday you want.

I visit them as often as possible, I cannot pick a favorite, nor can I list all their individual attributes, (too many). Each island has it's own individual beauty. I love Symi and Kalymnos, Rhodes and Kos, Aegina and Samos. They are only a handful of many diamonds of Greece. I have to say that some people don't like Athens, but we loved it. People were friendly all over Greece. Philoxenia is a way of life there and all visitors are treated like long lost family. Bravo, it makes me proud to call myself a Greek- American . We hope to visit Crete and Mytilini and some other points in between the next trip over! .

I live in the island of Rhodes, and i love all the islands so much...The blue of the sea, the peaceful life, adn the heart of the people make them special...
I dont think i would live somewhere else, and the proof is that many foreigners buy houses in the greek islands, because they love the life there, and the calm the blues sea gives them....
