If you are female:

There are lots of causes of vaginal bleeding, unfortunately you have not stated your age.

As many people have already said, Vigorous intercourse can damage the vaginal mucosa and cause some bleeding after sex.

However, bleeding after intercourse is a cardinal sign of cervical problems, since the penis hits it during sex (including cervical polyps and cervical carcinoma).

Do not be worried about these symptoms, you need to see your General practitioner as soon as possible.

You will need to have a speculum examination, this involves inserting a rigid dilater into the vagina and opening it so that the cervix can be visualised, this could show if there are any polyps, in addition to this you will need a cervical smear.

In the meantime there is no reason why you cant have sex, use additional lubrication during sex, and wait to see what your Dr says.

All the best.

If you have only had sex a couple of times, it is natural for you to bleed because it is possible that your hymen has just broke (the thin lining of skin that covers your vaginal entrance). Many people bleed after sex for the first couple of times. If you have been having sex for a long time and you suddenly started bleeding, then it's best to see a doctor to check everything is okay. I'm sure you'll be fine.

I was asked if I did when I went to the doctors for a smear test, as I have an erosion on my cervix and apparently it can cause a bleed. It is quite common, and will heal itself.. could be that?

not aroused/wet enough probably

but also when you don't have sex your vaginal walls are thinner, and having sex thickens them and makes them more healthy, so actually the first few times you have sex you can bleed from tearing of your thin walls and not just cause of your hymen breaking. Any time you go without sex for a long period of time they will start to thin again, which will make you more prone to bleeding when you do have sex again.

You should see your doctor instead of asking here. He or she can examine you and possibly refer you to a consultant. My gf's constant bleeding turned out to be poly-cystic ovaries, which can cause fertility problems (luckily, she fell pregnant soon after that diagnosis!)

This can happen if you've not had sex in a while. If you have it regularly, you should go to the dr and get it checked out.

pls see your gyne. This is not normal unless you and him are using something untraditional, if you know what I mean that causes trauma in there. But seriously, see your gyne because this could be something bad.

Try using a bit of KY and tell your partner to take it a little easier on you.
