i heard you can by online then calling but dnt no how cause i found a phone then some one said its easy to activate them

Actually it is the opposite. Verizon Wireless and Sprint uses CDMA network. Each of ther phones have a ESN 12 digit letters and numbers on their back phones that is registered to that phone model to activate the phone.

So if you found a Verizon cell phone, the owner would have to call Verizon Wireless and report the cell phone stolen and deactivate the 12 digit ESN number and the phone that is registered to him or her and the phone would now be useless.
