The manufacture says to use 30w. But 10w30 works just as well! I get the "Store Brand" from wally-world because it's a fair oil and not that pricey for an engine that is only going to be used 90 minutes a week.

Single weight 30 motor oil. This is the recommendation right out of the owner's manual for a briggs engine.

You'll probably get a hundred variations on this question. I used to rebuild B&S 5hp engines for irrigation systems. In summer weather we always used 20/50 synthetic. It withstands the heat very well.

Push mower use 30weight oil riding mower use 10w30 also make sure to check the air filter and change the oil filter for maximum use
