can i just get the blade replaced, or do i have to buy a whole new lawn mower?

well,
the whole shaft is broken
from hitting the curb.
ugh sooooo gay.

You can get the blade replaced, if you take it to a place that fixes lawn mowers. Better to take the whole thing down there, and let them deal with it.

Replace the blade.

You can do this yourself, or get a friend to do it.

Blades are mounted with a nut that is screwed on backwards usually.... so, where you would normally turn a nut to the right to tighten it... on a blade, you would turn it to the left to tighten it. Use a long wrench, and a pair of heavy gloves. If necessary a clamp can be used to hold a block against the deck, which can act as a 'stop' for the blade to rest against, making it easier to loosen the nut.

The blade can be replaced, but that may not be all of the problem. The crankshaft may also be bent. If this is the case, it will cost about 150 to 200 to replace the crankshaft and blade.

if you bent the shaft going up to the motor get a new mower.

Replace the blade. And while you're at it...replace your boyfriend...he should be mowing the grass anyway.
