So today I went to a small recital that the voice studio I take lessons from had. I'm only 13, and the recital was for people much older, so I just came to watch. One of the people preforming, was one of my voice teachers. She is Russian. Her family came also (her husband, 17 year old daughter, in-laws). I know that my voice teacher (she's really young) really likes me a lot. We have a very good relationship and I am always happy to see her. She introduced me to her mother in law, and her mother in law was sooo happy to see me and everything she kept saying, "Elena talk about you like you are a relative!" and she said to my mom, "You have a very beautiful daughter!" and my voice teacher kept on bragging about me to her mother-in-law, about how I speak a little Russian and sing in it. I don't think her daughter, Alina, liked me very much because her mom liked me so much I guess. But now I feel really special to Elena, and that I have a special place in her heart. I really wish I could

spend more time with her. She IS only my voice teacher. But is this okay for me to feel this way about her, and want to be closer to her?

Even her husband said, "Elena talk a lot about you."

its great to become close with people outside your family. it sounds like you should really pursue this relationship. talk to her about her daughter maybe, and try to make friends with the daughter too.
also, try to make your relationship with your teacher be based on some other things along with singing. find some other things you have in common, so its not all about how wonderful you are. that could ease the situation with the daughter too.

Oh, it's perfectly okay to feel that way. If you two are so close, spend so much time together, and she is so proud f you, it is perfectly fine for you two to be close. Even though she's only your voice teacher, she holds a special place in your heart because of the way she has helped you and how much time you two spend together. It probably also meant a lot to her that you went to see her at the recital. And I'm sure her daughter will get over her jealousy.

It is natural to feel close to a mentor. I think all of us has had a teacher that made a big difference in our lives. Your voice teacher sounds like she is that person for you. I am almost 40 and I still remember that special teacher of mine. She taught me when I was fourteen years old. She changed the way I looked at the world and helped me realize good qualities in myself. You are not wrong to admire and look up to your voice teacher. I bet when you are old and gray you will still remember her fondly.

I would recommend discussing this with your parents just to make sure everything is up above board, but after that I see no reason why your friendship should pose any kind of danger to either of you. The more you approach adulthood the more you'll realize that we thrive and function through "extended family" as much as through our own blood-kin. Just bounce this off of your folks first so they can make sure your efforts aren't in any way compromised.

You can still have a close relationship with someone if they aren't family. It sounds like you found a mentor. She sounds like a great person.

Telll her to cool it for a while, and tell her why. You dont want to hurt your daughters feelings. And it is okay to feel close to someone thats not your family. just dont fall in love with her.

I DONT THINK THERE IS NOTHING BAD TO HER TALKING A LOT ABOUT U. AND I DONT THINK ITS WRONG FOR U TO WANT TO SPEND TIME WITH HER, U FEEL THAT WAY BECAUSE SHE OBVIOUSLY LIKES U. I THINK ITS NORMAL AS LONG AS SHE NEVER TELLS U TO DO SOMETHING THAT WILL MAKE U UNCOMFORTABLE.

I feel it is only friendship.
If you like her company, you may continue.
