my bf is named kristofer collins and i want to name our son connor. he wants to have the baby named after me and be called petri. i think his name sounds better but my friends at the centre aren't so sure.

Connor Collins sounds good together. Connor Petri? I don't know how that sounds since I'm not sure if I'm even pronouncing it right.
Ask why he doesn't want the baby to have his last name? There might be something behind that since most fathers would want their kids to carry on their own last names.

Conner Collins sounds funny imo. Conner Petri Sounds just fine. And if the father doesnt think that the child is his why would you want to pass his name on to your child? I think you should use your name, and if you dont like the way it sounds choose something else and use Conner as the middle name.

If he is only your boyfriend and not your husband I caution you to give your son YOUR last name and do not put the boyfriends name on the birth certificate either because many times the birth father disappears from the scene.
The odds of unwed mothers and fathers marrying are low and down the line when you do find some one who wants you and your child it will be easier to give your child their last name. ( you can say he is the biological father and avoid having to go to court for adoption)
Listen to the so called ---boyfriend and your friends.

If your boyfriend wants to use your name and you want to use his, why not compromise and use both?
