I'm writing a persuasive essay on eliminating the penny. Can someone give me some pros and cons ? Also, some ideas to make my speech stand out... when presenting it in class...( like visual aids)

I was in Europe prior to the Euro, most moneis did not include the penny. Look at that, all of Europe survived without the penny.

Also, you can't use pennies in vending machines. So they are pretty useless.

The US government does not use pennies at military bases overseas because of the expense of shipping them.

If you go to the food court and get a meal and it costs $2.79, you just give them $2.80. If it cost $2.72, you give them $2.70. Everything is rounded to the nearest nickel. In the long run, it works out fine for everyone.

If we eliminated prices in pennies, that might drive prices up a little, but if we round everything it won't.

Notice that gasoline is priced in tenths of cents per gallon - $2.769, but no one carries a pocketful of mills (thousandths of a dollar).

to eliminate penny will save alot of time from counting and you don't have to carry around heavy purse.to keep the penny is for counting from the right way from 1 to 100.I think it's better to eliminate penny and nickle and dime we can just start from a quarter

I believe that it now costs more than one cent to make a penny so they are literally money loosing. I bet that info in the US Mint website.
