Mushroomhead formed in 1993 and are still goin strong. nobody really knows about them either. but the fans that they do have, are true fans, who actually know about the band and arent those fans who claim to like them because they heard one song. they are great! they mix rock/metal/death metal/techno/rap. they have such a wide range and sound different than all the other bands.
check em out! heres some songs!

Do yourself a favor and check out Catherine Wheel. They were an alternative band, kinda grungy but not really, and could rock really hard on occasion, like on the CD Happy Days. If you think you might like amazing walls of guitars, a very unique and awesome voice in Rob Dickinson, and catchy yet rockin' songs that are so good they stick in your head, you should hear these guys. Get Happy Days if you like it harder and Chrome if you like it more alternative. If you like Pink Floyd, you MUST check out the Catherine Wheel album Adam and Eve.
Somebody below mentioned Caroline's Spine....ABSOLUTELY. If there is one hard-rockin' band that I can guarantee about 95% of people will LOVE, it's them.

Modest Mouse, Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters, and Nirvana were all working hard in true emergence through the 90's.
