I am on the verge of crying because of stress?
I am so scared i am not going to get into alaska pacific university. I have a 2.7 gpa and i have just finished my sophmore year in HS. i had mono last year at the end of the first quarter and very beginning of the second quarter for 1 entire month so that reallyscrewed me over but i received good grades for the last semester because i didn't miss very much school. i don't know what to do. I am taking ALL IB (international baccalaureate) next year which will give me weighted grades because it is an advanced diploma program and i am almost positive i can get B's and above. Do you think i will make it into a decent college. and i am already studying for my ACT's. I am really stressed out and that is all i am worrying about. if you could help and give me some advice that would be wonderful.
and i am also going to be the president of Earth Club my senior year. and i have tutored and i am going to volunteer at the humane society this year

Just COOL IT !!!! KID

CHILL OUT !!! KID

You keep that up you are going to be an old woman of 90 by the time you reach 18.

A little secret. ACT's test SAT's test aren't everything.
Most public ally fund Colleges have quotas in who they have to accept. i.e. a certain % of women, a certain % of racial and ethical groups etc.
You can have a 4.0 average and not get accepted if they need to meet their quotas and have not met them.

It is a numbers game as far as enrollment in Colleges go as much as it is a grade point average game!

Personally when I was involved in the hiring process I'd look to students and grads from smaller Colleges and stellite campuses. Reason being I knew their grade point average was closer to their raw test score averages in the classes. i.e. grades less likely to be curved that at main campuses.

Reason been there done that when college instructor:

A lot of whether you willl be accepted or not depends on the school you are trying to get it i.e. School of Engineering, School of Business, School of nursing, etc. and the waiting list those schools have at the university.
So all that said you need to be already applying if it is for a school like The School of Nursing which has a long waiting list.
There are students with 2.5 grade point averages who have been accepted because they applied early enough, and students with 4.0 grade point averages who have been turned down because they waited too long to apply.
But don't limit yourself to just one College either apply to several colleges.
Good example of that is my wife at the time: She took her nursing at smaller College not one of the premier elitist colleges in the state.
90% of the nursing graduates as a rule failed the state broad exam for their (R.N.) nursing license the first time state wide.
However from the school she graduated from over 90% passed their state broad exams for their (RN) nursing license the first time.
So just don't get all torqued out of shape and make yourself an old woman by the time you are 18 over this deal.
There are a lot of colleges out that which are actually better Colleges Academically than the bigger (we call them pary schools) elitist Colleges.
So don't narrow your choices:
And here is another thing you might consider. If not accepted right out you can start out by taking the courses at the university's night school.

Try not to stress out,

You will accomplish all that you set out to do, and raising your GPA is not impossible. I can tell you are a very gifted and determined student keep striving, and asking for help is the first step, seek out extra point assignments from all of your classes, ask if you may take makeup test if you have Dr's statement concerning your illness you should be able too.
My Daughter was a AP/IB student and she graduated with honors and so can you , Please remember take life one day at a time live it stress free as possible stay on task with what is absolutely necessary for you to raise your GPA
you may have to drop some extra curricular activities but everything will balance out , small sacrifices great rewards
I am wishing you the best of success. stay positive.

Relax, and chill out.

You will get into a good school as long as you keep trying, which I see you are. Keep up the good work.

In the absolute worst case scenario, you can go to community college, take hard classes, get a high GPA, learn, and end up in a top ranked school.

Otherwise, your grades are fine, you have two years left. Just relax, chill, focus on learning and enjoying high school. Life only gets tougher after graduation.

I answered this question for you in its earlier incarnation. I really sense something here. You're worried ... but you're also smart and confident underneath. Convert that fear and anxiety into determination. That's what the pros do. You're going to do this. I can just feel it.

And remember you probably still have a decent shot at Alaska Pacific with a 3.0. You really can do this.

Wow, slow down! That is a lot of stuff to be doing all at the same time. Please don't stress out about it, just do things you'll enjoy - if you do enjoy those things, go for it, but be prepared that you might have to scale things back to get all your school work done.

Yes, you can easily raise your GPA during your Junior & Senior years - just get your work done, learn all you can & enjoy yourself. Too much stress could cause you to get sick again - you don't want to miss anymore school, so relax & just do what you want to, to get to the school you want. (maybe go & check their application requirements - what GPA do they require?)

of course you can all it takes is work and i looks lie you have the work ethic needed. Please calm down now, all this stress really isn't good for you and beleive me your doing fine. I had a friend who almost didn't graduate because of bad grades. he went to a small college and worked a little harder he now had decent grades(about a B average) and is now going to UAlbany, so don't worry everything will work out for the better

You will definitely be able to get into a good college. I got into a good school with a 2.8 high school GPA. As long as you don't slack off, you should be able to get your GPA up to 3.0+ by the time you apply for schools. GPA isn't everything, the colleges will be looking at other things like your extracurriculars, SAT scores, and personal essay. Good luck!
