I heard when you were conquiested by the protestant british , they forced you to speak only in English and to drink tea at 5:00 pm. But then... in 1776, you became Revolutionary, and decided to stand out for yourselves and rid off of your British opressors! Cool!

You have your story a bit mixed up. Americans were originally British subjects and had no desire to break away from England. The problems that arose were that England was severly restricting the rights of the Colonists and began to severly tax and oppress them. After repeated attempts to get cooperation from the King failed, we began to revolt.

It had nothing to do with the British being protestant, they did not force us to speak English, that was what everyone already spoke since we were English. They never dictated what time we should drink tea, they were over taxing us for tea.

Yes. We were so glad to rid ourselves of the British that we celebrate the freedom from the dictates of that country on a regular basis.
