an at&t activated iPhone will work anywhere there is GSM!
But the roaming will be very expensive.
all iPhones have to be activated with at&t, no other!

Sorry, the iphone is a phone that is locked to work only with Cingular Wireless (A T&T) here in the United States. If you want a iphone that will work in Malaysia you need to wait 6 months to a year that will have a "unlocked GSM phone". Unlocked GSM phones will work in any country as long as the phone will have a triband or quad band that operate on many frequencies.
Once the phone is unlocked all you need is to purchase a sim card in your country and put it in the back of the phone.

well it depends if they i have computures there then well it will take longer
