I'm going on vacation to Paris and then on to Prague... I've bought Lonely Planet books but sometimes tourist books miss the best places... Any cool clubs, bars, museums or anything that you know of?

One thing I did in Paris was to use either the bus system to get around town with, or we walked. It was a great way to see the city and be with the "real" Parisians.

In Prague find the plaque celebrating the independence from the Communist regime. It's near the National Theatre. Also check out the museum facade at the top of Wenceslas Square. Those are bullet holes from the 1968 invasion by the Russians.

Prague is loaded with Americans and Brits. You can generally tell them apart by the fact that the Americans have cameras and are more subdued. The Brits are usually men about 30 years old and pissing against a building.

Czech music is pretty good, so try and find some live music. Don't take your meals near the centre of town unless you go to the vegetarian place a block from the astro. clock (it IS over rated). If you do go out late at night don't carry a lot of money. Avoid carrying a backpack, the neon "welcome" sign for pickpockets.

In Prague, go to the Charles Bridge (Karlovy Most) twice - one during the day and once at night. The scene is spectacular either way, but they're totally different. There are several clubs in that area.
Don't go to the Hard Rock Cafe in Prague. It's not the real thing.

Go above the castle in Prague and walk down thru the garden, the castle and on down the hill. You may not want to walk up the hill and public transportation is cheap.

The clock tower in the center of town is over-rated in my opinion.

Paris - walk thru the park behind the Eiffel Tower to see Parisians at play. Visit the Rodin museum for its sculptures. Take the bus trip out of town to Versailles one day.
