What happens if someone removes the iron pin at the corner of their property.?

This was put in by a surveyor for a legal subdivision.

Is this not illegal?

When the surveyor finds out, he/she will just put another pin in. This will probably only happen when this person goes to sell their property. The surveyor will also charge the property owner for the time it takes to reset it.
