I'm black and always found it hard fitting into the black community because I was a shy and quiet girl. I didn't find many shy men and women of color which made me feel weird and different. The majority of black seem loud, proud, bold, say what's on their mind, don't care what people say. I never been that way and wondered if there were a few black shy because there aren't any where I live.

There seems to be a predetermined, even brainwashed stereotypes people expect of blacks and every race and I just never fit the stereotype yet very militant and cultured. But their seem to be few and far between shy blacks compared to people of white or Asian descent.

I just wanted to know how it was in other people's areas because in my area I don't find many like me. I just wanted ones to answer who it applied to...blacks! Not trying to start racism. If you find it racism then that shows you are in that mindset.

I agree shyness isn't for a certain race, it's a trait that can to anyone with any color but it seems around me there's few blacks but I meet a lot of shy and quiet whites and asians but there are a lot of wild loud white women, ever seen Girls Behaving Badly and Jerry Springer and these reality shows.

When one isn't a stereotype that is expected of the race you are you get called white acting even by blacks which is sad who fell for the stereotypes and white people think "your one of good ones" which is sad and I let them know their one of the bad ones.

Questions like this only preserve racism. Should I spell it out for you? You can have any skin colour and any personality.

I'm not black, but I am part of a minority race, (hispanic).
I know what you are saying. It seems that if a person is black, they are expected to be the center of attention. Television and other forms of entertainment practice this.
If you are a humble person, it makes it look like you are ashamed of being black, which is not true.
We need more humble people in all races, just be thankful for how God made you.
I don't think its shyness that you have, I think that some children in black and other minorities raise their kids to be arrogant or flamboyant in order to make some kind of shield saying " I'm loud and proud so don't start anything with me like challenging my culture or upbringing."
It becomes a cultural thing and they really lose out on getting to know people like you. It is a shallow way to live, and they are only limiting their opportunities to open their minds to others that are different, like you.
In a way, you are better off because you will be able to see things in this world in a way that will help you understand things, rather than living a life of distraction. Other doors will open for you that the people around you won't or can't see.
I hope this made sense.

Hey I too am black and shy. I don't just go out and speak to people. I like to analyse whether I can speak to them or not.
I do not have a large circle of friends like people expect from all black people. I have three very good friends.
How you react to situations is based on your personality and up bringing.
Don't feel alone because there a quite a few shy people of color as you put it.

If you are shy, than it is a product of your personality not race. There are many shy black people in the world. There are a lot of loud and proud people who say what is on their minds that aren't black. Race has nothing to do with it.

Race has nothing to do with shyness or lack there of. Culture, environment, genes, these are all contributing factors. There are many shy individuals in the world (many famous actors) very shy people. I am sure there are other shy individuals within your community, you simply do not notice them because you are not seeking them out due to your "shyness", and they are not being seen due to again their "shyness". My opinion. God bless****

I think people are just how we see them at that moment in time. If we are working through something personally it will affect how we view those around us.

You seem to have a pretty skewd view of shy. The word you are lookinfg for is "TIMID" You are timid. By defintion

Lacking in self-assurance, courage, or bravery; easily alarmed; timorous;

And many black people deal with our insecurites by throughing them away and exspressing ourselves as proud.

I hope you find what you were looking for.

Good Luck
