Can I use eucalyptus leaves in my compost?

I do not think that eucalyptus leaves would be detrimental to the eventual intended uses of your compost. In fact, the aromatic qualities may deter undesirable insects from setting up in the compost. But eucalyptus leaves will take longer to break down than ordinary leaves. They are thick compared to most leaves, especially compared to the leaves of most deciduous trees. So a compost containing them may take considerably longer to break down into usable compost.

Very true, they take quite a bit longer. They are very common trees here in Los Angeles and I put them into my compost all the time. My heap is covered in black plastic to build up heat and that seems to accelerate the breakdown. No worries, there isn't any problem using them.
