The price is not what counts but the thought. Something memorable not because of her age but because of you as a wonderful daughter. There can be a place where you can check a locket and put a picture of you in it, a special trinket for her bracelet, earings. Something she can wear would be nice. Make sure of her favorite color and style. If she loves to read, then maybe a book of verses or poems dedicated to her. A cd of her favorite type of music. I gave my mom a watch engraved on the back and my budget was low, but since I had time, I put it on lay-a-way. Roses are great too. Or maybe you to alone out to lunch or a mother and daughter day. If you do the outing you can make it a picnic and go to a park or a nice garden open to public. Happy Birthday to her.

Well you could take her to dinner, and buy her a gift card to her favorite store, so she can buy her own gift, and once your home from dinner, maybe have someone already have brought her cake and favorite ice cream and maybe a "Suprise Party!!" Where everyone jumps out from behind the couch, and you time it just right with your mom's dinner date!! That would be pretty cool, for a "50th!!" To have streamers and everything to come home from dinner to see all of her favorite friends and family there!! With maybe her favorite cocktail, and chips & dips!! Little fingerfoods, for snacking on so no one gets too drunk..... Just cut loose and have fun with this!! Her 50th only comes once!!! And hey, that's 1/2 a decade's worth of enjoying having your mother around, so she deserves only the best party she could ever ask for!! ENJOY!!! Smile!!!

On a mothers day once,...I gave my mom a written letter from me naming the top ten reasons why she is the best mom to have...ie) Because you make the best sandwiches when I'm sick..) Because you gave ubelievable help and support when I told you I was pregnant years ago...etc... she absolutely loved it! I'm not sure if your mom is the "sappy" type but if so... this sort of thing she would treasure until she dies.

Some type of potted plant/flower and make a scrap book or picture album of special times and things that she will smile about. Walmart has both flowering plant and photo album/scrap book for under $20.00!

Flowers. She is in mourning at the thought of growing to the old age of 50. Give her something to cheer her day.

My mom turned 50 this year. I got her two books by her favorite author and made her her favorite dinner and got her a nice bouquet of flowers.

Whatever you give her, make sure to include a hug that lasts at least 4-5 seconds. There is nothing more precious.
