Well, apparently it was pretty traumatic, because it was a couple-hundred years ago, and I still remember it. I was about 25-26 yrs old, it was New Years Eve, and my husband & I were going to a friend's house for the evening. It was BYOB. We had both gotten off work late-ish, and were running behind, so while he was getting showered 'n stuff, I raced up the hill to a small liquor store, raced inside, snatched a fifth off the shelf, and raced to the cash register. The man at the register rang it up, gave me my change and I raced back home to shower. As I was stepping into the shower, it dawned on me! I whipped over to the mirror, and took a close look! Yikes! It had been raining all day, and probably the stuff the cat dragged in looked better! I was soooo bummmed! And the fact that that was the only time I wasn't carded-anywhere- for the next 20-some-odd years, has never made me forget that! sniff. }:>

That wasn't depressing for me at all. I had been buying alcohol and drinking in the bars since I was 16.
Was a little taken aback when I was carded at 22.

I never get carded and I'm only 23. There's certain places I've been able to buy beer since I was like 17 without getting carded. So I have no idea what it feels like, I'm kind of offended when they do ask for ID.

I was pretty thrilled the first time I didn't get asked for ID. But maybe that's because I'm only 20. (We can drink at 18 here in Oz.)

That was so long ago that I can't remember. Funny thing is that I'm actually starting to get carded more often lately. I don't drink alcohol, so this is mostly for tobacco.

That really got me Billy. But now, even to this day sometimes I get carded and sometimes I don't. When they do, I just smile a great big smile and say here ya go . . .lol.

I was very excited to not get carded because I was underage! Now, it just makes it easier.
