I hope you are referring to the Mormyrids, which are NOT protected and do NOT grow to be huge. Go to any reputable fish store, offer to make a cash deposit for a special order. If the store is worth anything, they will order them for you if they don't already have them in stock.

That would not & could not happen.
If you are talking about what I think you are talking about.
Real dolphins, a real whale?
I have a 30 gallon tank & it is in no way big enough for the size of fish you are talking about.
NO, not happening.
For the Baby Whale fish, that is small & not related to a whale, look here..

I hope you are kidding. First of all, that is illegal, second, a Dolphin would need millions of gallons of water (minimum), and lastly, you are an dum8sh!t! I understand there are fish called baby whales, but it really doesn't sound like that is what you are talking about. If you want a real Dolphin or Whale, you should not be allowed to contaminate the world's gene pool with your idocy, so don't EVER have kids!

The best ones I have found are in the toy stores. I think they only eat 2 AA batteries every month or so, and you never have to clean the tank.
Aside from that, 55 gallons is way too small for any whale or dolphin, baby or not.

Plecos or loaches like clowns or yoyos are usually good choices for big fish in a small-fish tank. They're plant-eating and don't bother other inhabitants. I would strongly recommend putting bogwood in your tank and providing lots of plants, and feeding algae and plants at least once a day. Loaches tend to school, so I would stick with the pleco if you're going to go this route. Alternatively, an angelfish community, with paired angelfish, some larger tetras like rummy noses or cardinals or congos, or some livebearers like platies or mollies, and some bottom-feeders like, again, loaches, plecos, corydoras (tiny!), or otos (even tinier!). Try to avoid going too small (stick with fish that are two inches or more), or else your tiny fish will become a snack for the angels. Some ideas for your tiny fish: Neon tetras Cardinal tetras Rummy-nose tetras Harlequin rasboras Dwarf rasboras Corydoras catfish Otoclinus Glowlight tetras Zebra danio (nippy) Black Skirt Tetra (nippy) Cherry barbs That's some of the most common ones. I would recommend visiting your local fish stores and picking and choosing which ones you like the look of, and then going home and researching all of them. A good source to start on research is the Aquarium Wiki.

LOL!
Toy store! They have amazingly lifelike toys now.
In case you're serious, and don't realize, even the smallest whales won't fit into a 55 gallon tank. 55 gallons of water won't even get a whole whale wet. Even a baby one. The smallest whales HEAD wouldn't fit into a 55 gallon tank. They're pretty big.

any pet store should cary baby whales.... ive never seen a baby dolphin, but there is an elephant nose that could suit that need. you could also add more fish than the baby whale, just provide it a "ghost house" cause they are very shy creatures. they do not get big, and there are no laws protecting them....so go to your local fish/pet stores and ask around!
PS- if people are giving legit answers in the fish column, and actually know what they are talking about they should know there is a fish called a baby whale... it grows to be a bout 6 inches long and its named that because its face kinda looks like a whales. but by no means is it related to a real whale.
pps- and if youre asking this question about real dolpings and whales...thanks for giving me a laugh.

You're gonna need something a little bigger than a 55-gallon for a whale - more like a Seaworld pool.

That's not a good idea. 55 gallons is entirely too small for a whale or dolphin.
