BA Philosophy and History, MA Ideological Dissension in the Middle Ages, PhD. European Intellectual History (basically a history of Philosophy Doctorate). My parents helped in a small way financially though all the degrees were paid for by myself, however they supported my decisions and gave me the drive to follow my interests rather than a purely financially rewarding degree.

I was lower-middle class... my parents didn't have the money to give me financial support and I wasn't smart enough to figure out that school was important when I was younger so instead of a higher degree I have a 6 year old son and one more on the way.

My parents played no positive role in my academic achievement. First, my parents never cared about my grades, so I never felt pressure to achieve. Second, my parents discouraged me from going to university. They thought that it was economically impractical to get university degrees with the Majors that I chose. Third, my parents never helped me to pay for my university degrees. Not a single cent of aid did I receive from them. Instead, I paid for my university studies by means of government loans, bursaries, merit-based scholarships, and part-time work earnings.
I did not need encouragement from my parents to obtain a great higher education. My natural inquisitiveness was enough to give me the passion to educate my mind. I obtained honours bachelor's degrees in Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology with Thesis, and a Master's degree in Philosophy. I am currently a graduate student and planning to obtain further degrees.

2 BAs and working on my masters. 1st BA was on my parents, all the rest I payed for. I've actually grown a bit cynical of the university system these days, I wish I could go back in time and have kept my money rather than doing one of the undergrad degrees. I 'm not impressed with diplomas any more, the measure of a man should be what he knows, not the papers he holds

I can't believe that c*m in "summa c*m laude" is censored! Bad Yahoo! BAD!
I have a BA in linguistics (2 minors). My parents paid for some living expenses, especially when my LAZY SCAMMING NO-GOOD BACKSTABBER roommate bailed on me, leaving me with bills and a whole townhouse to pay for myself.
I got a fat scholarship, though, so that paid for all of my tuition, books, fees, and most of my housing.
As far as achievements, I got the distinct impression that I was supposed to be a high achiever in order to keep up appearances. But my parents were really just using me to make it seem like they were better than they were. I was actually a total wreck during college and I nearly killed myself (during "dead week," appropriately enough) right before I graduated.
I had to go in a mental hospital right before finals and I barely graduated. Well, I graduated with honors...but I barely survived, is what I mean.
All in all, my parents have been abusive, sh!tty parents and I'd say that made them pretty damn unhelpful. Those bastards actually made me do work for my brother, who was 3 grades ahead of me, so he wouldn't fail out of practically every class. Some of my achievements actually have HIS name on them! They made me cheat for him!
Soooo...they played a part. Yeah, they did.
Just not a good one.

A summa *** laude in both B.S. and Masters degrees. But I'm really a Gump, if ya know what I mean. I AM proud that I did it on my own, though, financially. And I quit high school, moved out in my own apt.during my senior year of high school, and got my GED and did it all being a single Mom, working as a waitress. Anger and rage gave me the motivation to do all that, and much more. I am very proud of what I was able to accomplish. My parents were worse than worthless, though. Thankfully, I no longer "need" rage to motivate myself, but then again, I'm OLD. LOL Jeez, I just noticed they deleted part of my "honors". Give me a BREAK Y!A!!

My parents gave me good financial support too. My only degree is that I'm a human, and I'm proud of it.

Nope don't have any degree at all but then again I still need to go to college but when I do you can be sure I'll get one whether it be in philosophy , zoology or biology.
Pretty sure my parents won't be able to help me financially but they will always support me no matter what I do.

GOOD QUESTION...Does it matter? Using this website can be helpful. Does every contributor feel the need to be acknowledge with a specific grade? If I asked you to eat a lump of chocolate, or a lump of coal, what would you do? By your actions, I could gain an insight into your state of mind. Can I have my higher degree now please?Or do I have to suck lemons and piss in the wind singing Jerusalem?

I am pursuing a law degree, and my parents contributed maybe $1000 financially beyond high school, but they have been incredibly supportive emotionally and psychologically.
