There are some who actually state their case in a way that allows for constructive and mature debate.
Of course there are also some who rely on good 'ole knee jerk reactions to back up their opinions.
Then there are some who see opposition as a personal and direct attack. They often unleash a tirade of insults here or by email, and/or follow you around the site giving you a 'thumbs down' rate for anything you post.
Personally I love to debate and welcome opposing views because it's all about learning and growing, at least for me.
And if we feel strongly about a cause we have a social responsibility to stand up and be heard!

I just come on here and answer the questions. Best as I can. Maybe a thumb up or thumb down. Maybe a block if someone has blocked me. Maybe a report on a clone or a really perverse bunch of stuff not relating to politics. If the question is political and offends my sensibilities, I ignore it. I kind of like free speech more than feeling good about what I believe. You can make plenty of friends doing what I do, but you won't ever be able to trust anyone.

That should be obvious. It seems to me that differences in political opinions are NEVER debated on the issues. Instead like children, they call each other names or ask some ridiculous question like do All liberals believe in the Easter Bunny. People on both sides of the aisle are guilty of these immature tactics. Hmmm, I wonder what debate in congress would sound like if they followed the example set here on YA

They do one or more of the following:
a) block you
b) report you
c) mock you
d) call you names
e) give you thumbs down
In the end, they all pick as "Best Answer" whoever could guess the questioner's opinion best.
PS: If you're neither a "Liberal" nor a "Conservative," you won't make many friends around here.

Show me, you can tell me anything. If you aren't backing what you say up with facts, it's nothing but a biased rant in my eyes. I deal with them all the same way, with facts and I answer the questions in the tone they are asked.

If they are patriotic (put their country ahead of their personal ideology) I argue, but am very grateful they are here. I support their free speech.
If they are seditious (no longer illegal but still contemptible behavior) I argue, and am disgusted with their cheap selling out of their own country or representatives (vs. patriotic protest and dissent, a very different thing).
I support their free speech as well.
Typical? I don't know for sure, and would hate to guess carelessly. I'd hope others would treat me the same as I'd treat them.

Lot's of put-downs, name calling, ridicule, childishness, blocking people so they can't respond to the questions, giving violations to those they disagree with, ....... Much longer list, but why bother.
You'll catch on. :)
