I am very disalusioned with mainstream politics these days as I am sure many of you are too. My dilema is this... I am getting drawn closer and closer to joining the BNP and have voted for them in the last local elections. I believe that they are the only ones prepared to stand up and fight for old fashioned British values. My sister in law is black and born in England and in no way do I want to appear to be racist or be part of a racist organisation, but I feel that we cannot continue taking in freeloaders from other countries, we have enough of our own. Do you consider them to be racist ?

mate, the BNP has many enemies, and they're all on here. don't listen to their lies, listen to BNP manifestos. vote them in, if they don't do as you voted for, like every political party has done since the beginning. simple, you vote them out. that's freedom of speech, don't listen to anti bnp smear. make your own mind up. remember this, every single paper, and TV news and documentary prog, only ever give the bnp no coverage or bad press. and we still get votes, the party is only 14 yrs old and 10yrs ago the votes were counted in hundreds, now they counted in millions. and rising.

Yes they are racist but not only that they have no sensible policies.

They would destroy Britain overnight. What they don't explain is

1) How will the NHS survive when all the foreigners are sent home? A huge percentage of the NHS doctors and nurses are foreign. The NHS would collapse overnight.

2) What about the lost tax revenue from all the foreign people who work? Many hold high paying scientific, or business and management positions that cannot simply be replaced from the local job centre.

3) What will happen when foreign government impose sanction on what will become a racist society? Britain simply cannot sustain itself.

4) Many positions that will be left open by foreigners leaving require extensive and long years of training and study. How can these positions be replaced overnight?

5) Many industries rely on low paid immigrant labour. These are jobs that British don't want to do? Who will do these jobs in the future. Theonly option the BNP have is increase the minimum wage and this will inturn cause job losses and a rise in prices.

6) The BNP don't tell you that in any Western Capitalist society there is an immigrant labour requirement by businesses. they simply can't survive without recruiting either cheap labour from abroad or highly skilled labour from abroad.

My advice is vote form them. I hope they get in because the only way you will learn is by seeing with your own eyes the bullshit that they talk and the terror and misery that they will create.

Well semisatanic, if it is utter bollox then can you explain how we will still have a health service and who else will do the jobs (the skilled jobs) that are currently performed foreigners? Obviously you can't because you are simply racist and racists don't think! Are you going to flip burgers? Are going to pick strawberries or grapes for 10 hours a day? Of course not. Farming and other agricultural industries rely on migrant labour. These industries don't have year round work. They can't afford to pay people over a year because harvests only happen at certain times. Thus immigrant labour is the best choice. You haven't presented a single argument against what I said because you can't. Enough said!

This is a great problem for a lot of people and yes they are the backside of politics. They like the old left wing play on a genuine concern, people can have worries over immigration without being abusive or racist, The major parties have ignored this or branded the people who express their worries in the mildest of terms as racist. I do not think joining BNP is wise because they are even more dishonest and racist than the rest. You just have to keep on hammering your MP and local council until they give a proper answer to your concerns and act upon them. Although I advise against BNP I can see where you are coming from in your concerns

As someone else has said a conversation with your sister in law may clarify your feelings. I mean a conversation not a shouting match. I hope your decision is made on reason not emotion.

An interesting question, not least because of the language you use.

You mention that you are disillusioned with mainstream politics. Really? The political process and parliamentary democracy or just the well-spun, non-descript, polished politicians trading on their personalities in the media? But whilst we're at it, there's a couple of other points you raise.

You mention, "old fashioned British values", to what exactly are you referring? Colonialism? Imperialism? Excluding Jews from our country? No, your rosy view of England is probably of Camberwick Green. Was it ever thus? It may well of been and at what price? Karl Marx predicted that England would be one of the first countries to adopt communism. And the reason given for this not happening? We exported our poverty; having goods made cheaply abroad and sourcing cheap materials abroad; hence why Gandhi was pivotal in leading a boycott of cotton in India in the 1930s. But of course for all of Britain's record of imperialism and colonialism abroad, it equally has a record of taking in those suffering from religious persecution, such as the Huguenots, those seeking asylum, including those from the Somali community and those seeking a better economic future; I would expect no less from a wealthy developed nation. There are of course others who have come to this country. They are those from countries in the Caribbean who - owing to Britain's colonial past - had a right to and were bearers of British passports; your sister in law (or her parents) may be one of those emigrants from the Caribbean. Likewise, there those from a number of Asian communities enjoying the same rights who came here in the 1970s. An interesting term 'freeloaders', but these people had a right to come. But there we have the language of the BNP; they are not interested in contributions made ans systems supported, just the alleged abuses of the State and Welfare system.

You say too that you don't want to appear racist or be part of a racist organisation. Why not? If that's what you truly believe, go for it. But I suspect that you know the arguments of the BNP and their cohorts are specious and abhorrent. Racism re-writes history, excludes and denigrates and judges without evidence. It is hatred and like all hatred it is irrational. Want a good example? Take a look at this article on David Irving, in particular under the heading, 'Racism'.

The BNP is changing some will tell you. but it isn't. It's employing the same spin as some of our 'mainstream politicians', buying the same slick suits, but their aims are the same as they ever were. As someone else here comments, how about lobbying your local MP. That is a better bet than voting BNP in a local election, not least because the change you reallly want is a national one; most 'economic migrants' who come here come - as the terms suggests - come for the money. I'm pretty sure that if you gave them the choice of working for a limited time and returning they would. Why then, in all the years that this has been on the political agenda, have we never introduced a system which allows entry to this country to work for a limited period and then to return? Voting for the BNP isn't going to bring about that change. Nor will it bring about any kind of policy that can be useful in the UK. But the one thing it will do is to divide working class White resident and immigrant communities. But hey, I guess if they do that then we won't be too concerned about what the government is really up to.

However disilusioned you get keep not only voting mainstream but be vocal with your local MP.At least you will have a voice. You will find that if the BNP ever gain control of this country it will be the last vote you ever have.If you think Stalin,Hitler etc were extream wait until these people come to power read not what they say in their manifesto but read between the lines.I am in my late 50s now and I hope to God that I never live to see this happen. With the policies of modern governments this country is well on the way to becoming a third world country but at least in a lot of the third world countries you are free.POOR BUT FREE.

The problem we have at the moment is 'New Labour' this is without doubt the first Communist government we have had in our history. Old Labour reflected an identity with the native British community. New Labour over rides the British people on very serious constitutional issues such as going into Europe, this will mean we are governed by a large one party state. That is the aim of any Communist. The Torrie's and Liberals policies are so similar, mainstream voting gels into a one party state.
All is not Lost, both BNP and UKIP are waiting for your vote, giving you two choices out of one party politics. The BNP have strong views on immigration and say so in clear understandable English. So don't be afraid to vote BNP or UKIP.

Yes, i consider BNP to be very racist and dont be fooled these people are against lots of things and are just softening their views slightly for public consumption in this very unsettling period in humanity and trying to use the terrorist threat and immigration issue as pawns because we are all worrying about these things.

These people should be avoided because if they ever get a stranglehold in government i think it would be a big mistake. I know where you are coming from with your worries about the world today but i really do not believe BNP are the answer.

Colour of skin and religious beliefs are not the problem in todays society its the people who are abusing their religion and the system who are the problem.

I hope you come to a decision that you yourself can live with because its you that will have to live with your decisions.

May God go with You.

Here is a quote from Nick Griffin, the leader of the BNP. Read it and make your own mind up. Ask your sister-in-law what she thinks.

"Without the White race nothing matters [other right-wing parties] believe that the answer to the race question is integration and a futile attempt to create "Black Britons", while we affirm that non-Whites have no place here at all and will not rest until every last one has left our land."

There is no doubt that the BNP are a racist organisation. While their members deny this, not one of them has managed to put this quote from Griffin into an acceptable context.

SAMMIE - my calling them racist isn't a denial of their freedom of speech. It's me exercising my freedom of speech, too.

There is no such thing as "freedom to speak without being criticised".

D: If it's all lies, please explain Griffin's quote. I'm waiting.

REDMONK: You don't like it when I question your intelligence. Then please stop making it so easy for me.

You don't like this Labour government - that's fine. There's a lot to not like.

If you believe them to be communist, that shows you have no understanding whatsoever of political theory. No Labour government in history has been further from communism than Blair's.

Blair's government has given control of interest rates from government to the Bank of England, and his government has put into private ownership almost as many public bodies as Mrs Thatcher did as Tory PM. Hardly the mark of a communist!

If you believe that Blair is communist, what do you make of Attlee's 1945 Labour government, which nationalised coal, rail, steel, health care?

Redmonk - read what communism means. Look at the policies of the Blair government, and justify your assertion that Blair's government is communist. Or stop making that assertion.

Because you are just plain wrong.

I do agree with you that we are in danger of becoming a 'one party democracy' where all three main parties vie for the centre-left ground and differences are cosmetic. But that seems to be what the electorate want - they keep voting for it.
But 'one party' does not equal communist. Look at Hitler, Mussolini, Pinochet.

The choice you offer is BNP or UKIP -not terribly appealing, but UKIP at least are not a party run by and for overt racists.

If you are honestly that disillusioned ask yourself what is wrong in 'your' life - before latching on to the simplistic notion that someone else is to blame for your misfortunes.

And i can only guess that something is up with you right now - job/relationship/life....

Blaming other people may make you feel better in the short term- but you'll still wake up the next morning in the same sh*t because you were too weak to look into the mirror and challenge your own failings.

that way - you'll sort your own life out - and forget about those other people - who get on with theirs.

Those who can do things - do things.

Those who can't - moan and blame everyone else!

The BNP are full of moaners - what does that tell you?

Don't waste your life blaming other people - because life will leave you behind.

I don't know who you consider freeloaders. The Brits when they stripped countries of their natural resources before giving them independence. Or the Yanks, who squatted Manhattan and places further west. Or Cortèz, or Genghis, or Javanese in West Papua. Man, the world is a complicated place already without building more walls... Just my 2 cents...
