My husband and I are separated, not divorced yet (we have a baby). I just found out he has plans to marry some girl in a little over a month. He told her we are divorced and we are NOT! She contacted me and I spilled the beans about us still being married, not knowing anything of her before this conversation. He is continuing to tell her we are divorced even though this isn't true. How would I find out if he married her before we are divorced? Is it public knowledge?

Oh, and I am worried about it because we have a child together and I don't want my son around someone who has no moral values, even though it is his dad. Also, he cheated on me when I was pregnant, I would love nothing more than for him to face up to the consequenses of his actions.

In alot of areas the local newspaper publishes the Marriage Licesnses obtained in the last week. You may be able to go to the website for your local newspaper and do a seach of his name. Also, if you go to the local courthouse you can look up the info. most of it is computer generated anyway.
You do have a right to be both upset and worried. This is the man you are going to be possibly sharing custody of your child with, and it shows that he is a liar, and has no morals. Also, what kind of stepmother will she be.
This are all quesitons I know would go through my head. I would talk to the courts about possible couseling before he gets parental rights. Does he have anything else in his past that would be a red flag? Drinking, drugs violence or is it just this, becuase if that is the case, most courts will tell you the same thing, move on and get over it. Sorry that you have to deal with this, a new baby is hard enough!

You've done your part by telling the other woman the truth about the state of your relationship with your soon to be ex-husband. Just focus on your child and getting your life back together. Once the divorce is final, this guy will no longer be your concern.
Hope it works out.

Your motives are your business. I respect the idea of making jerks pay. Marriages are a matter of public record. and can be checked, if you know where a marriage takes place. Assuming you want to take it that far, bigamy IS a felony. If he marries before your divorce is final, you could get him arrested. But, I'm not saying that's the best idea

Marriage records are public, but finding them can be a chore. Time to contact a lawyer; there are rights which need to be defined and protected, and it would be well to get that underway before the situration gets any messier than it already is.

He needs to get a marriage license from the court house and they will have in their records you are not divorced yet. So he can't get married yet.

anyone can apply for a copy of a marriage license after the event, you need to know when & where it took place though. i would sit back and watch what happens, he is going to mess this up for himself, big time, why get involved and give him reason to be angry and drag you into it. Give someone enough rope, they will hang themselves,

There is no way he can get married if he is already still married. I would tell that girl to double-check on their wedding day and yes, you can publicly see marriage licenses, thats how she can check as well.
