My grade point average is 3.7, and I'm in the top 20% of my class. However, I bombed the ACT by receiving a score of 21. What are the chances I can get into college without retaking the ACT?

You might get into a mediocre college and you probably stand no chance for a scholarship.

Is all that really worth not taking the ACT again?

Well I know that at one time ITT considered a score of 21 very good and did not require students to take the entrance exam when their ATC score was 21 and above.

You are just above the National average so you probably have as good a chance of getting into the college of your choice as anyone else.....

Otherwise anti up and retake the test.

You might have difficulty getting into some universities, but where there is a will, there is a way. If other options are not available you can always start at a community college--you will be able to get in--and transfer to another school after demonstrating good performance.

21 isn't bad, it's about average really.

You should be fine. Standardized tests are just a small part of what universities factor in. Your GPA and class ranking should take precedence, or at least be enough to carry you into most schools.

Are you sure you bombed it? The score is not that bad. Just apply to the school you want and have faith. The ACT is just one factor admissions will consider. And, if it is a bigger factor, you can get in conditionally. I did, and I have had a masters degree for ten years. Just go for it. Do not be your own enemy.

You should be able to get into a college, possibly in reality not as good a college as you might have wanted.

Remember, the ACT isn't everything colleges look at. They look at many other things, including your GPA and extracurricular activities.

You will definitely get in, it is just a matter of where. Take it again, and do not stress- you will do fine and get into a great school.

i think it really all depends on what you intend to major in....if you're going pre-med you might want to think about retaking it....any other career choice and you're going to be fine!!

not all people test well!!! but you have a good track record!!
