I'm just wondering why most black & hip-hop singers of today have all these nearly naked women on their MTV?? Can they not make a civilized video without this sort-of-porn & How come bands like All-American Rejects & Linkin Park can make respectable decent videos?

Hi guys!
Greatly appreciate all your answers...i don't want to discriminate or something, its just that what i see on MTV are MOSTLY blacks with videos of girls swaying all over them... i know there are also Whites who make these body-exposed videos but i seldom see it. But i don't mean to single-out on Blacks alone...So please, i hope you don't get offended...My apologies to some who got upset & Thanks again!!

cuz sex sells, and also the hip hop and r&b society has embraced hoes and sluts and so on and so forth and these women are okay with degrading themselves, because they watch these videos and think its ok. i have to admit i was kind of angery at the steriotype in your question, but the details made it better when you said "most". Just keep in mind there are white rapper thats do the same i.e. eminem, paul wall, bubba sparxxx. And i am a fan of all of their music, just like any other teenage girl, but i do agree with you in the sence that their videos are very innapropriate and the issue of that cultur needs to be adressed.

Because the record companies are selling an image, so that young kids will see the videos, then buy the records. It's all about marketing. The entire image of hip hop is a lie.

same reason motley crue, white snake and most rock bands do...and the reason those bands mentioned make videos w/o scantily clad women is because that is a different market they are appealing to. and please dont make generalizations check the dead prez, talib kweli and others out. but as long as people keep voting these videos that offend u onto TRL, mostly by white boys and girls, and elite 8 then bands will keep making these sorts of videos. also check out outkast videos they are crazy and colorful. hope i could help

I totally agree on this. My question is though? Why women let their self be used as sexual objects. They do portray us as being whores.

I believe that women should have more respect for self image. After all men are not all that either. They are sexiest pigs. I wish more women would support this statement and those in the video protest against this

Because sex sells dear, sex sells. A lot of white and hispanic guys do the same thing. Did you ever see David Lee Roth's video "California Girls"? Lots of scantily clad ladies - its nothing new at all.

It's not just black singers. Look at Britney Spears. The reason some artists need to do this is that their music is horrible and, let's face it, sex sells.

because sadly its what attracts most of the viewers in the United States. If you really think about it, there is hardly any artist that doesn't resort to some aspect of sexuality in their music.

They are hoping that lots of gyrating flesh will distract the audience and hide the shortcomings of the singer and/or his so-called music.
