Of course! There are different price ranges (from beginner's quality to professional quality) in every brand. Ludwig is one (if not THE) most oldest drum company that still manufactures product on a mass level.

One of the best snare drum to own is the Brass Edition, or its deluxe variation in stained brass--the Black Beauty.

I think so, but there are different levels of quality depending on price, like all drum sets. Ayotte is a good name too, as are several others. Go to Harmony Central on the web and look up the reviews of the kit you are looking at.
