Because it is not a congestion charge at all - it is a bloody tax, masquerading as a hug the planet activity. The morons who thought it up will want to grab as many people as they can, they give no more of a jot about congestion than I give about Paris Hilton and believe me that is less than sod all!

We shouldn't, and the explanation for the non bikers/ car driving drones is as follows.
We don't use as much road as you. There's enough room for two bikes in the space even a small car takes, and if everyone rode bikes and left their cars in the showroom there'd be a hell of a lot less congestion all round.
We don't take up as much space parking. Again, you can fit two bikes into one parking space, more if everyone thinks about it before parking up.
You can even get it to emission regulations, since a 600cc bike has much lower emissions than any car.
Anyone thinks I can make it clearer than that, let me know.

Motorcyclists shouldn't be exempt from paying the charge, but instead of the full whack they should only have to pay a quid or summat.

Bikes are permitted to travel in HOV lanes in my state.
If our govts were serious about reducing dependence on oil, cutting down pollution and easing congestion they'd give us a break at the tax office, and at the insurance office. They'd require reserved parking for us, just as they do for handicapped.

We shouldn't - though those sly boots in power would love to try.
I signed a petition on the "10 Downing street" website recently about this issue - promoted by MCN I think - some one at the Motorcycle Action Group would probably be able to tell you more about the issues.

we should not, we dont cause the problem but its the powers that be who make us. its a known fact that the british driving public resent us because we can skip through traffic.
but unfortunatly we live in a country of sayers and not doers, as much as i hate the tossers we need to be like the french who at least would do something about it. we seem to just sit back and let them steam roller us. this country has lost its bottle as far as the voting public is concerned.

Nobody should pay congestion charges!!! Figure out which politicians voted to enact them, then vote them out.

While I don't know what you are talking about with congestion charges, every vehicle of ANY kind adds to congestion on the roadways. Just because you take up less room, and can drive past traffic jams on the shoulder (and you better watch out, a passenger side door might fly open at just the wrong moment!) doesn't mean that you aren't part of the problem.

we shouldnt but that wont let the government stop them. I dont know why we have to do compulsory basic training for bikes either when car drivers dont have too, you can do a damn sight more damage with a car than you can with a bike
