What is the best way to get cat pee smell out of a mattress. I poured alcohol on the area, any other ideas?

Nature's Miracle, you can buy it at a pet or hardware store works great to eliminate the smell by using enzymes that break it down, other stuff just covers up the smell for a bit then it comes back in time...this won't happen with this stuff.

Cat pee is oil based and rarely does it come out. You can try the Nature's Miracle, which is what we did on our carpet, but in the end, you will find you're just going to have to buy a new mattress (we had to replace the carpet). Cat pee has to be the worst smell, ever. Get your cat spayed/neutered if it isn't already and that will help prevent it from going in the house. If the cat is doing this repeatedly, it may have a urinary tract infection, which is what the problem was w/ our cat - about $40 for the antibiotics at the vet.

Replace the mattress.

No matter what you do, you will never get ALL the smell out, because you can't GET TO all of the places where the urine has stored itself. It will not only be in all the layers of padding, but will have also run down into the springs (which WILL rust quickly because of the acid content). The only thing you will ever be able to get rid of is the surface smell. But if that is enough for you, add 2 cups of household ammonia to a gallon of soapy water. Using a stiff bristled brush, soak and scrub the affected area. Let dry completely before using. If it is a nice sunny day, then take the mattress out into the sun and stand it up to dry with the wet area facing the sun directly.

Or get smart---buy a replacement mattress and get rid of the cat.

saturate the area with amonia - its the only thing that will neutralize the odor of cat urine. If possible, take your matress outside to dry in direct sunlight. I refer to this as "sun bleaching". It has worked for me on mattresses and couch cushions. Afterwards, buy a mattress pad/cover with vinyl backing, just in case another accident occurs. The vinyl back will totally protect your mattress from absorbing wet messes.

The cat pee has probably gone down deep inside where you can't reach it. You could try saturating it with G G Bean Urine Kleen or something like that, but if the urine has changed the composition of the mattress filling, it may be over.

Cat piss??? The best solution is gasoline.
And a lighter of course. If you can't spring for a new matress, then go to the Petsmart or Petco and look at the piss eliminators, but if you can't get it all out, animals will likely pee there again.

Well, my mother always used to just add about a cup of strong vinegar to water and just wet a rag with a liquid. The "fun" part of getting rid of it is jumping on the rag where there was pee.

You might be able to use a small shampooer on the spot. You might try Febreezing the crap out of it, and they also make a product called Urine Gone (I think that's what it's called) but I can't remember if it's a cleaner or a odor remover.

Baking soda works great. When you get the smell out, go get your cat spayed or neutered
