It depends on your nationality. You will definitely need a passport, especially if you're traveling through the U.S.
If you are a citizen of Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Island, Israel, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, San Marino, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, United States of America, Uruguay or Venezuela, you don’t need a visa to enter Mexico, although you must present a valid passport and fill out an immigration form for tourists and business trips, which can be obtained in travel agencies, airlines or at the point where you enter Mexico.
The immigration officer at your point of entry into Mexico can also request that you demonstrate that you have sufficient funds and a return ticket to your country.
If you are a citizen of any other country, you need to go to a Mexican consulate to request a visa. If you have a family member, friend or acquaintance in Mexico, he or she can do this at the INM.
Consult the requirements or go to any of the INM delegations throughout Mexico for detailed information about requesting a visa.

Actually, if you're travelling from Canada, you don't need a passport to enter Mexico. I have many friends who have entered Mexico with only picture ID. I would always have one though. It makes me feel better.
But now a passport is required if you are landing anywhere in the States. Straight through is still no problem.
The visa you need is a Mexican tourist visa and they give it to you on the plane to fill out. You can't leave Mexico without it so look after it well until it's time to go home.

The town of Cancun is young, as are nearly all of their permanent and temporary inhabitants. It was just a little sand barrier some 35 years ago once the plan started to produce it to the vacation haven of the 21st century. Today you've the opportunity to visit it, with hotelbye . Today en time, Cancun includes a medium-sized coastal city and a long, thin island connected to the mainland through links at its north and south ends. It features world-class resorts, lodges, clubs, and malls. It includes something for everyone, from an all-day fun celebration beach to an separated, tranquil island. This can be a great place so learn it now!

Right now you do not need a passport if you are driving. If you are flying then you need a passport and you better got one now because they are taking a long time to get. They used to take 6-8 weeks but now a few months. No visa is required unless you are going to be there 6 mos. or longer.

If you have a british passport you don't need a visa. just back from two weeks in cancun. you will have a great time amasing place, great people, nightlife, and great hotel. so jealous, can't wait to go back. Hope you do have a great time.
Oh make sure you look after the travelling document you fill out in the plane you will need it to return and keep $50 per person for airport tax on the way back because they only take cash.

Hello; Although you need a passport to go to Mexico, and many other US-freindly countries, you do not need a visa, unless you are extending your stay beyond six months... quite a rule, eh?!
If you have questions about this, or any other destination, you can find out all there is to know, (current, and accurate) by visiting the website of the US Governments official travel site, by the US State Dept.; http://travel.state.gov/
I hope this helped!

No, you won't need a visa. Just tell them what your plans are and show your plane ticket. Have fun! And, yes, the passport, of course.
