a Hopeless Romantic is an idealist
from which upon smelling the sweet smell of a rose,
decided it could make a good dessert.

No, it's not foolish to be a romantic unless you're being a total romantic over a total fool.

As long as you are tuff enough to take all of the emotional lumps you will undoubtedly receive, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being a total, and probably hopeless romantic.
Eventually you may begin to ask yourself why things so seldom seem to work out as you might wish that they did. Then some of your romantic notions may become tempered by a bit of reality.
Until that time, let you heart love and your soul sing! Give your love flowers and sonnets. Eat chocolate late at night and celebrate the dawn with joy! Chase those rainbows and follow those dreams! I hope you never grow up!
May it all be well with you.

The world today is so full of sorrow and pain that most people just survive day to day.
Many have either forgotten or never experienced romance. Humanity seems to have forgotten how important romance is!
Romance is a way to say thanks to your mate for being yours. Also a way to care for the longevity of a relationship.
It seems today marriage has become an acquisition instead of a melding of hearts. The sad thing is that today ownership doesn't mean caring for, everything is considered replaceable even mates. once acquired the object or person becomes unimportant as the next best thing comes into view.
OPPS sorry for the rant!
Love is a choice you make,
Romance keeps it fresh and alive! Pandora

I think so. It seems to me we have to balance love with courage and wisdom. You can get caught being Romeo, while the object of your affections is no Juliet - an one sided relationship which you are doomed to endure.
A total romantic does not look at reality, because the romantic is in love with the idea of love. You color everything with love even when it's not really there. You say the world is beautiful, everything is beautiful, side-stepping the truth with a lack of courage and wisdom. It takes all three love, courage and wisdom to achieve a health balance.

The romantic is one who fears being alone. Unable to cope with a moment of being without someone, they become very unhappy and very quickly. As a result, they design delusions on the nature and quality of relationships so that they will never be alone.
Of course, no one can live up to these idealizations of romance -- the romance will fade and then they will end up being alone again.
So, yes.

I would say it is only foolish if you are not a romantic. To thine own self be true. Be the best YOU you can be.

No way. Be as romantic as possible. There are plenty of tough, hard people to go around.
