Like everyone else said, make sure that you know that it isn't the battery. Once charged fully or replaced, see if the engine attempts to turn over if you turn on the ignition key, it should. If it doesn't, its either the stater, or it could be a device common to Toyotas called the igniter. If its the starter gone bad, you should be able to hear a click every time you turn over the key. It means the solenoid attached to the starter is attempting to make a connection to make the starter work, but for whatever reason, it won't becase its locked up. Sometime tapping on the starter will loosen things up, but at best its only a temporary fix until it gets to the point nothing will allow it to work. If the engine does turn over, but doesn't start, I would look at the igniter. But at this point you would be better off towing to a QUALIFIED mechanic you can trust.
Also, if its been sitting for 3 months, I would make sure it still has gas in it. These days with gas prices the way they are, someone could have siphoned it out of your car.

It's not the engine. The only way the engine would lock up if it sat for three months is if it stalled because of water intake. You say it was running fine so I would be looking at the battery. After the battery was ruled out then I would look at all the connections between the battery and the starter(should only be a few big cables from the battery). If you know the stater is getting plenty of juice then you should look at it or it's solenoid as suspects. Good Luck.

Charge up or change your battery. Make sure the connections are good. Put clean, fresh fuel in the tank. I don't think sitting fo three months would lock an engine. Perhaps your starter is seized. Give it a wack while someone turns the car over. Make sure the car is getting fuel, spark and air. Those are the three critical things needed to get the car running.

that idiot is trying to sell you a motor. if the car hasn't been touched in 3 months then the battery is most likely dead. get a jump start and take the car for a long drive to recharge the battery. before you start the car, check all the fluids, and let it idle for a few mins before you take off.
and you might also wanna add some fresh gas to the tank if it is not already full.
good luck

no the engine shouldn't be locked up in it,maybe the starter motor might be locked up,but certainly not the engine, letting one set for that short of a time wont lock the engine up in it ,have someone else look at it for you, this guy i wouldn't trust,he,s trying to rip you off,if you get a good second opinion on it this might clear it up for you,its probably the battery that's low on it,and all it might need is a good charge, good luck with it hope this helps.

Hi,
It is quite possible that the issue is with the engine.. Do one thing:
You sit on the driver's seat and ask few other people's (2 to 3 ppl max) to push the car.
Then when the car is moving, switch to first gear(normal procedure: press clutch and shift to gear 1) then slightly release the clutch and push the power pedal next to break..
I hope this works..
best wishes..
take care..

I hightly doubt that would be the problem. It could be a whole host of things, but if the battery has been ruled out, then perhaps the alternator or starter? The starter is a pretty common thing to go bad over time...

The same thing happened to me. I have a 98 Camry with only 56,000 miles on it. The oil was changed every 4,000 miles and today the engine died. The mechanic said the engine died and he tried turning the engine over with a wrench and it wouldn't budge.

I've never heard of an engine being locked. Try another mechanic, maybe it's the starter or the alternator.

No, the motor shouldn't lock up just because it hasn't been started in 3 months. It may be your starter or the solenoid on the starter.
