Depends on the alert. You can stop a lot of them but probably not all. Turning off your Windows firewall will stop alerts but leave you totally unprotected...I don't recommend that. However, you can make changes to your Internet Options (click tools then internet options in Explorer) to allow some of the things (like cookies) that cause some of the alerts.

If you're getting the same alert on a favorite site, check the zone (in the lower right of the explorer window). The "Internet" zone usually has the most strict settings...adding a favorite site to the "trusted" zone will stop many of the regular alerts you get on that site. To add sites to the trusted zone, from "Internet Options" click the "security tab"...then select the "trusted zone" and click "sites". Add your favorite trusted sites to the list to minimize security alerts while on those sites.

"yeah why not just get rid of all your protection software and that way you won't get "annoyed" by those stupid programs telling you your computer is at risk and could potentially become unstable or unuseable. Then about every other month, you can reformat your hard drive, lose all your files, programs and settings, and atsrt over again. OR, follow the prompts to get protected."

The statement in quotes is not mine. I found it from another users here on Answers, thought it was great and saved it. I don't know the authors SN.
