I used to be involved in having 4th of July celebrations for various municipalities and everything came about through donations. Most donations came from the various businesses. I see no reason why tax money should be used to pay for celebrations like this, when they're not needed. :)

In our city our fireworks are funded privately and better than yours. We have a free and open market and companies fall all over themselves to sponsor them - throwing up the largest amount of cash. There's no price cap on our celebration, and no liberals reaching into our pockets.

Actually, I did buy my own fireworks this year, showing my support for conservatism.. That I bought them illegally shows my support for liberalism.
