At the bottom left of your screen you'll see a "Start" button. Click it.
You will be presented with various options such as Search, Help, etc.
Click Programs.
In the menu that appears click Accessories.
In the next menu that appears click WordPad.
You will get a blank document that you can type into and print. To print after typing click File at the top left of the window. Then click Print in the drop-down menu that appears.
Click the Print button in the dialog box that appears and your document should print - presuming you have a printer that's attached to your computer and you've placed paper in the printer's tray.

You need a word processor to do that. There is a very basic one that comes with Windows called Wordpad or Notebook. If you have Microsoft Works or Office then you can do it in there using Word or you can download a complete office suite for free from http://www.openoffice.org

right click on the desktop (the screen you see when you first start up) then choose new>text document, or you could just go to start, then select run and type in notepad and press enter. If you have microsoft office installed, you could also go to word, which would be start menu, all programs, microsoft office, microsoft word.
