Often we pretend not to care when we care the most.
People can behave in very strange ways, despite their own feelings -- It's only a measure of false pride.

For me, it's a matter of "not losing face" in the Asian parlance (I'm Irish, by the way) I HATE being made a fool of so, if someone "punks" me I laugh the first time. Then I freeze up, and avoid such situations again.

I think it's a defence mechanism people use. If you let someone know they have hurt/bothered you they may continue bulling you. So instead we act like it was nothing to show the other person they are not going to shake us.

I think it's good that you ask this question of yourself. One needs to find a balance between vulnerability & communication. To hold back to often just builds a wall between us & others but bad judgement of when to allow others to see our vulnerability can leed to us being hurt.....

I have definitely acted like I did not care when I wa angry. Once someone knows how to hurt you, what's to stop them from continuing.

Sometimes I do it because I got mad and don't want to give them that satisfaction of letting them know that they got to me.
