could they have been informed of the end of the world in 2012, by a third party such as aliens, they may have told them it ends at 2012, or maybe, the aliens are going to Come back at 2012?? What do you all think about this?

i think the mayans decided to let their calendar end in the year 2012 because they had better things to do than thinking about 2013, huh ?
i see no clue why this should effect us, except that a specific branch of people tries making other people worry.
cause they think its cool and funny to do so.
(hear them laugh ?)
actually people tend to believe any s**t which matches into their believe.
Its about reality.
everybody builds its own, and IF it matches into YOUR view on things ...well you WILL believe that the mayan calendar plays an important role in the year 2012.
actually at this point you've lost your view on things as a whole

do you trust people who did not make it to the end of their own calendar ?
i tellya they stopped in 2012 because it was late that day.

The calendar ends then because it was the limit of their ability to calculate into the future. They simply reached the end of their calculation capacity. Enough with the lame aliens and end of the world nonsense, ok? If you want to ask about silly stuff like that, Yahoo has a 'mythology' section.

No. No. I think the Mayan calendar ended in 2012 because that's how far they projected it and people have just gone wild with crazy speculations.

anyhow, in response to the first 2. they also had prophecies that would happen during 2012. and that their main god would arise and battle evil.
