Why is it that when you find fault with us, you say we must try to prove God to you apart from the Word of God the Bible?
Why do you appear to despise this book so much? I ask this because even science in the formation of the plannets has to give over to a form of faith as there is no scientific fact to support the best current theories. 40 billion years ago, 20 million years ago, bla bla bla happened. How do you know? Were you there? Are you not reading this from a book as well? Is it not a matter of faith for you to believe in string theory, or the big bang theory?

For those of you that attmpt to disprove Christians based on the idea that our book is not correct, what basis do you have for refuting it? Have you studied ancient texts and noted how information was handed down form generation to generation by word of mouth. This was the accepted way to hear about a history of a people. Once writings became important, thse individuals in all cultures painstakingly maintained a rule of accuracy, as best as possible. In that it is scientifically proven that ther is only a 3% error rate in the entire Bible from one ancient text to another.

3% to a ancient text schollar is nothing compare to the books that turned up in the 2nd and 3rd century. The writings of Homer are not as accurate, and they are accepted witrhout queston as authentic.

God is perfect man is not, however I submit to you that God would not be God if He was not able to present His Word in a scientifically acceptable form. Many scholars today never refute the authenticity of the Bible never. So why do you?

Mamakumar: No e-mail access typical. Please not all religions are not the same. Christianity differs from all others in that you don't have to do anything to get to heaven, It is blunt in that all the Good you think you do will never be enough, only a sacrafice of one that is without sin is worthy to pay for your debt.
Budda, Krishna, Alla, Kallee, Confuscious, Zuse, etc... all other gods worshiped in ths world don't offer eternal life in heaven based on a sacrafice that you cant make. Only Christianity, only in Jesus is there salvation.

Both the theories... the existence of God Almighty and the Cosmos having its beginning from the big bang are true! However complex the matter may seem... yet, for some the glass is always half full and for others half empty! Practically we do not see what we see... but what we want to see... our complete thinking rotating around maze of thoughts surrounding us!

We have to realize that it is only enlightened beings who ultimately realize the absolute truth! Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed... the moment they gained enlightenment... the complete crux of life became absolutely clear to them. How the Cosmos came into being, who is Almighty God, what is the underlying relationship between the big bang theory and Almighty God... and other related questions!

Starting from the beginning let us enter into a time phase when the old cosmos is about to collapse. As per Bhagavad Gita... the most sacred Scripture of Hinduism existing on Mother Earth... the doctrine given to mankind by Lord Krishna (an Avatar of the era)... no sooner the entire Cosmos collapses... its entire size reduces to the size of half a thumb!

And what is this half a thumb? The entire cluster of all purified souls atmans in the Cosmos when they unite together in their original pure pristine form... they form the size of half a thumb! This is the only definition of Almighty God. One single particle of sand... an individual soul atman... the whole mound being God Almighty! An individual piece of puzzle being a single soul atman... the completed puzzle... God Almighty himself!

This enormous cosmic power... the cluster of all purified souls atmans in the Cosmos... Almighty God himself... unable to contain itself for long in its prime pure state again explodes with a big bang... giving birth to a new cosmos... a new cosmic life cycle! We may believe it or not... both God Almighty and the big bang theory are intimately connected. None can occur without the other! I came on with only 12 hours to answer the question. I'm not an expert and am fallible. Both God and the Bible seem quite fallible. It is amazing that people have been shown all the inconsistencies in the Bible and still can't say that it is infallible. Its true that the Hebrew scriptures are copied so articulately like you say and yet we can't be sure who wrote what. Why did it take so long for Jesus' followers to write about what they had seen while Jesus was alive? It was all pretty much here say after that. How could they keep the facts straight after such a long time? Why did they need a Roman emperor to put the Bible together? Why has so much evil been done in Jesus' name afterward? Why has God allowed the evil to continue if he says he can't allow it? Anyway, I see the Bible as fallible and it seems as if God also makes mistakes and yet people insist that if it says something in the Bible then it must be true and it must be very relevant. So many religions fight about what it means. I wouldn't be so frustrated about that if these same people didn't show me that book and make me hate myself and hate God at the same time when they try to strongarm me into their church. It is a safeguard for my spiritual growth to not believe everything I hear from the Bible. I'm thankful to be able to shake my shoes off and get all that crap off of them after church. I can close my eyes and smell the roses and feel the breeze on my skin and know that I don't have to worry or fight for God's love. It is completely free.

A great question, and good points brought up by Jon.
I think Thomas was set in place for the 'must have proof' people, and I understand that. But all the disciples were the ordinary people, for a reason, to help US understand that they all had faults but were willing to follow Jesus in spite of there selves.
If others that were non-believers would look at the facts given in scripture putting their own non belief aside then I really think that it would make sense to them too. But they are not able to get past that unfortunately.
Could you imagine if the scientist would give a good look at what it says, the things that they could uncover and maybe cure! there was a documentary very interesting called

"Amazing Mysteries: Dinosaur Extinction"

I got it from netflix it was really good, it compared the theories about the dinosaur extinction. And all the theories were explained well but when you look at the Scriptures and testimonies of the Bibles
explanation did explained what happened, it was there.
Check it out for yourself.

No scientific theory has hard proof, but the Bible doesn't either. It may talk about having faith and believing in God no matter what, but at the end of the day, it's just a book. At least scientific theories have SOME basis other than faith.

I surely just speak for myself, not all atheists. I have no problem with you and your like being saved if you like, but Jesus (after dying) promises condemnation to all that those who do not accept his ressurrection as fact, that he came back in the flesh.

Now, depending on the meaning of condemnation, I really don't mind; if that means that I am condemned to stop existing as a self-aware entity; an eternal soul or what-have-you, I'm perfectly at peace with that. But in general the promise that I should be eternally punished for not believing such silliness is offensive to me.

Before I would accept such a thing, I would only ask for what Jesus brother Thomas asked for. Proof. Now, Thomas was apparently given proof enough for him to accept that Jesus was there in the flesh complete with wounds from his crucifixion.

I would not be satisfied with this level of proof, because the extraordinary claim of eternal torture would require something more than could be accomplished with a parlor trick to convince me.

By comparison, the claims made by science do not make extraordinary claims, and there are no threats to me if I should not accept them. They are merely reasonable explanations for how things are now. There's no "TRUST ME" implicit in the arguments. If you have questions or doubts about the claims of science, you are free to attack them with every piece of evidence and reason at your disposal, and you are encouraged to find flaws in the arguments, rather than labeled heretic.

Science may have a tendency to attack a Christian's belief system on account that there is no evidence. On the other hand, Christianity attacks a scientist directly--not his belief system, but his very soul.

The Christian accepts the scientist's damnation as a reasonable and acceptable fact, without any evidence. The scientist, on the other hand, displays no such passive-aggressiveness towards the Christian, but still must defend himself against the unfair perceptions.

I don't have to believe in the big bang theory. I believe in those that are scientifically proven or that I can somehow figure out myself. A lot is achieved through science otherwise we wouldn't be able to do many tasks. A lot also needs to be achieved.

I'm sick and tired of trying to explain to hateful atheists the concept of God and Jesus. All science and reason points to God and Jesus yet they still don't believe. They are ignorant.

Exactly what I've been thinking for a long time, in fact I was just trying to explain this to someone at my church... She agreed but I think what I was saying was going over her head.

To you I say, Amen, and keep up the good work and good thinking!
