i dont have it down all the way yet. its a work in progress. i care tremendously about people, family, strangers, girlfriends, friends, the guy holding the sign on the freeway on ramp, even those who have wronged me, they arent welcome in my life but i wish the best for them.. i have put peoples feelings before mine for much of my life and realized that my approach wasnt getting me where I WANT to go. so i soul searched for a substantial amount of time finally coming to an understanding of what i really want to do with my life. in doing this i became a master of me. i figured out who i am, what i want, how i work, why i am the way i am. the key is that i accepted everything about me, good and bad, realized that im the only person that will fight for what is best for me at all costs. in doing this i set boundaries. past which i will not allow any one to cross in order to preserve me. if i dont like someones actions towards me i speak my mind and let them know in a respectful manor that they have crossed a line and i would appreciate if they would respect my space this carries over into your question because people are going to try to get you to do what they want, what works best for them not necessarily concerned with your best interest which is following your dreams. now compare your level of selfishness in following your dreams to someone elses selfishness who is asking or damanding you not to follow your dreams. how do they have the right to even imply that it might not be fair to them. i hope that makes sense. im nodding off as i type this.

there are going to be a lot of crossroads in your pursuit of success and many of them will include choosing keep certain people in your life or not. i say try not to burn anyt bridges along the way but it is necessary for you to weigh the options and choose whats best for you. its painful a majarity of the time, but do what you feel is right for you.=====happy trails

It is not selfish or self centered to set goals for yourself....your goals may affect or impact others but your goals should be about personal fulfillment and what makes YOU happy:)

The first step is determining if your goals are believeable to you. If you don't believe that you can achieve them you never will. The second step is determining your reasons for setting your goals and how you will benefit from accomplishing your goals. These two factors will help you take your goals seriously.

Good Luck

The only way you could feel selfish or self centered is if your dreams and goals are harming others. To want to improve oneself is human nature. You know right from wrong or you would not be asking this question.

When you are happy and excited about your life and your pursuits, you will influence and inspire those around you to do the same. Happiness is contagious. Like Ghandi said "be the change you want to see in the world."

I agree with Kandice...
Nobody else is gonna give you anything. In fact, others out there will do what they can to take what you have earned.
Take care of yourself first. Then, you'll be ready to help others with the "overflow" of what you have acquired.

Hey Stil, If you don't put yourself first, then who will? This life is not a dress rehersal, we get "one" shot at this so why are you so hesitant to be true to yourself? You will never be good to anyone else until you are good to yourself.........See yha, Kandice
