I am a spanish boy (from spain) that moved to South America with my family and has been living there for a lot of years. I went to visit north america for one month and got a really bad experience. People treated me really bad, especially black americans. My question is why Americans are so arrogant? You really think your country is the best? Let me tell you, I was disgusted by the ambient in America! I have been to a lot of places in the world, and are much better then America. I think you should change your actitude, because the whole world hates you! You think you can come to South America and rape our countries, destroy everything, and then build a wall in Mexico to prevent us from going there! I cant belive you can degrade so much a nation! I think South America should build a wall to prevent you from comming. I pitty North America, you dont have love or family values as Latin American countries have. Maybe you will be angry, but its true. America should change as a nation.

Ok, maybe im a predujiced for saying this. But Americans are really arrogant. In real I am not anti american, but I was treated bad. I saw also how much you hate especially Latin Americans. And what is more sad is that Latin americans love North Americans, but the rest of the world hates you, The Arabs, the Asians, and also the other anglos! But every day that passes, Americans are more arrogant. Now each day the world is more and more AntiAmerican. Latin America is the only place that still loves America, but if you continue to degrade us then that will end! All you have to do is respect the others and dont think your always the best!

I'm from California in the U.S., and I totally agree with you. Unfortunately, the places that would agree with you are small and spread apart. Most of the country is filled with arrogant jerks, and it sucks. Most people outside of particular places in New York and California think that they are the rulers of the world. I live in the Bay Area, and it's not quite as bad as the rest of the country, except New York City. They are pretty accepting of other cultures, and people too. I will admit that there are people around here who are arrogant, but most of the people I know are in total agreement with you. The Bay Area, in general, doesn't want a wall to be built, and in general, people in New York City feel the same way. But people in the central part of the country are republican, arrogant, and ignorant. They think that they are on the top of the world, and the truth is they're not. If I had my druthers, the people who come here seeking a better life would simply have to fill out a few forms to make sure that they are not murderers from back home in they're country or something. As it is now, the people who come here to stay here have about a 1% chance of passing the tests, and then they have to live here for upwards of twenty years before they can become citizens if they pass. For that time, they are completely subject to what the government wants of them. As for the visitors who come here, I honestly don't know why you were treated so poorly. I'm sorry you had a bad experience, and I wish it had been otherwise. I must say that I am not proud of my country. I am not patriotic in the least. I hate the way this government is run, and I want it changed. I hate the fact that our nitwit of a president has our military in Iraq killing innocent people, and basically destroying a culture. Okay, their culture had a note, a big note of sexism in it, but who are we to tell them they can't live the way they want to live? It's completely screwed up, just like almost all of this country. If you ever come back to the U.S., go to either the Bay Area in California, Orange County in California, or New York City in New York. I can't guarantee you will be treated right by absolutely everyone, but I think most people will try to make sure you have a good visit.

Proud to be American! Am I proud of a lot of things going on here? NO! I have lived all over the world too, there isn't another single country that can offer what this country can! But, this country is on its way to self destructing for many reasons! Mostly because it is TOO GOOD!!!! I moved here from a very small place that had an American base a very long time ago. I have been around americans my entire life. I come from a commonwealth country. Two days ago, a crew was landscaping my backyard and they had poured wet cement around my entire backyard and they couldn't access it anymore so they asked me if I could ask my neighbor for permission through her backyard. All they wanted to do was walk through, open up a couple slats of the fence and put them right back just so they could access my backyard. She took one look at me and told me I am not her neighbor (I have been very sick so she has never seen me but my husband) did not give me one chance to explain why I was there and gave me a flat NO!
I understood then something that I had observed, people of her nationality are in America only to rip the rewards of this great land and give absolutely NOTHING back! They shop only at their communities, they don't integrate, they hardly speak english and they send all their money back to their homeland!!!

What she did was so unamerican..so unneighborly! She behaved as if I had asked her for one of her limbs..yes she has every right to decline, but the way she did it! God, forbid something were to happen in this neighborhood and she actually were to be in need one day! What I have always known about America and cherish is not this!!! If she is not going to integrate and try to belong she has no right to benefit from what this country has to offer because I am paying too high of a price for her to be here!
This country and it's people are the most giving nation on this earth...they are ready, willing at any time to help. They can tend to be a little "bold" but they have earned it , & so can other nation..they brag about what they are "cool" about too!

I can't imagine just because you had a bad experience when you came here...you would think this whole country is bad and the people too!

It is kind of the norm to be prejudiced to the ones who are prejudiced against you..but at one point you have to let it go! And try again..

I suppose I could hold a grudge against this oriental neighbor just because....or how many times I have been treated badly, unfairly here in the U.S.A!

Sorry you had a bad experience, but I wouldn't judge after spending such a short time here. Like any country, we have good and bad people (Of many different races and backgrounds). Maybe if you came back with an open mind and were more outgoing and friendly you might have a different impression. Contrary to your belief that we hate S. America and its people, we like and admire your culture. A large part of our population is latin and although we may have differences we treat each other with respect and as equals. I'm not here to change your mind. You're entitled to your opinion.

Not even China. We can opt for a brand new president with no need riots We could have physical games with out the killing of referees or the collapsing of stadiums.

Yes, Americans are proud of their country, and it often translates to arrogance. Perhaps it is because we are still such a young country. I don't know. Canada doesn't seem to be like us in this respect, however. They seem much more mature.

For some reason, we just aren't used to being considered a foreign "tourist" location, so our heads aren't geared to thinking about the needs of those who are visiting.

We could do with being humbler and poorer in my opinion.

Am I proud of my country? Well, I do like living here but I am ashamed of our current president's so-called war on terrorism. President Bush and his invasion of Iraq is nothing more than him selfishly trying to obtain more oil to make his own oil- business-owning family and friends richer. And he doesn't care how many people have to die in the process.
As for your visit here, I am sorry you were treated so rudely. Americans do seem rude. Not only towards you but towards each other as well. I wish that would change also.

Well, there is a simple solution. If you don't like the USA, don't come here! Lord only knows, we Americans sure wish more people thought the way you do. We don't give a flip about what some relocated Spaniard thinks, you can trash mouth all you want.... just stay out.

Yes, we're proud and rightfully so. Your bad experience does not make America a bad country. It might have been your attitude that fueld your experience. Either way, it's too bad your experience was not what you hoped for. Have a real nice day.

Well, SOME blacks still are mad that whites were racist against them along time ago, so some don't like seeing white people. Some whites like blacks and some don't. Hispanics like some people and dislilke others as well, it's all the same
