Centennial Park is a beautiful place for a picnic with many different spots that would be suitable for a group of 30. Any of the buses up Oxford St will get you there or you can drive. Some of the beaches and other spots in the Royal National Park are worth considering. There are trains but you would have to walk a fair way from the station, driving is best.
