I like to think so.In medival times,there was actually a word for it,or phrase,if you will.It was called,"Courtly Love"which meant tht even though you had feelings for someone else,you didn't cross the line for fear of ruining the romantic ideal.Nowadays,it's called being a gentleman,or a lady.two words that have ost a lt of thier original meaning over centuries.

I don't know - it seems to be that chivalry sort of "puts the woman on a pedestal" and keeps her unapproachable. She is to be treated as an ideal and with implied virtue and honor.

It's sounds great, but really stifles that morning chat over a cup of coffee.

Negating that energy flow back and forth doesn't sound too great to me. As much as I love the idea and ideal, I know peeling the layers and really getting to know someone is much more romantic all in all.
