you obviously haven't read the new politicaly correct version, which goes. There was an old woman who lived in a shoe but was given social housing in order to provide her children with a brighter future under the mighty Labour Party.

That is a very deep question as the children were clearly neglected (after all she had so many that she did not know what to do). I imagine that she was able to hid several of the in differnt parts of the shoe or in hidden compartments... some of them may have eventually gone off to college.
