I'm going to use my personal experience as an answer: When I was a child my mother used to take me to archaelogical sites, and my first approach was the ancient agora with its monuments...My second was Acropolis and Parthenon, and my third the national museum...And this went on every Sunday morning...Believe me, I didn't loose...I got to know what history, art, and esthetics are...As for zoos etc I wouldn't suggest that your children get the image of animals inprisoned...a very good alternative would be theater for children...I wish you to enjoy too...

The Attica zoo park is very good.I've been to a lot of zoo's and to tell you the truth I was very much impressed with "ours".Yes,of course most of the animals are behind bars. But in opposition with other zoo's I've been to,the cages are very good designed in order to meet the needs of the animals and they have a lot of room to move in(they haven't sacrificed the animals well being so that they can have more animals in the same space).
Allou fun park must be something all children like.I don't think there is one child that doesn't wanna go to a fun park.
You might wanna check out the Hellenic children's museum(http://www.hcm.gr/).
Of course take the children to see archaeological sights.Just avoid the hottest hours of the day and tell them the day before a little of the significance of the places they are going to visit. That way it will make it more interesting for the children.

Depy is right, but I suggest that you should take them to some of the museums and sites too. The Archaeological Museum, the Acropolis, are amazing experiences for everyone, children or adults. And a child needs to learn to love culture from an early age, even if he doesn't understand everything, these exhibits arouse the imagination and the esthetic feeling. Later it is just too late!

you can always visit ''Attiko parko'', a huge zoo where a lot of animals live. you can see there many species of birds and animals.
if you would like something more extreme you can go to ''allou fun park'' a really huge amusement park where you can find many things to do.
i would recomment some sights to visit but it would be realy boring for the children..
