It won't happen. As much as I'd like to see it happen, it's just not smart baseball. The M's have too much talent in the outfield already to waste and bringing Griffey over means having to spend even more money. Guillen is not the deciding factor believe me, but the guys in AAA are. If Jr. were to come over they would have to keep Balentein and Adam Jones in the minors when they are big league caliber players.

In an "In My Own Words" interview with griffey he did say that he may have been raised in cinncinati but he grew up in seattle. He has long time friends that live in seattle including jay buhner , edgar martinez and more. When the question was asked whether or not he would retire as a mariner griffey replied that if he were to be given the chance he would because he feels he owes it to the city and the fans. Whether this means he will play as a mariner or just return to wear the uniform one last time remains to be seen.

Nope. The fact is that he is getting old (in baseball terms) and injury prone. Griffey has matured greatly in the past 5 years. I see Griffey looking at his career and making a decision to play only as long as he can be a contributor. He won't become a DH and he won't be a platoon player. He has enough respect for himself and the game to walk away at the right time..... not hang on like some losers.

Nope. I think he's going to Atlanta. Cincinatti is most likely looking to trade him, dump his contract since they are out of the play-off hunt. He has said that he'd go anywhere that is in playoff contention and his Dad played there so that will make him a little more likely to want to go there.
Atlanta needs another outfielder to go with Jones and Francoeur and Griffey has shown he'd move around to help the team. Not to mention the strain would be lessened if he played left. Atlanta also has a few young left fielders that can platoon with him, if he'd prefer that to lessen the risk of injury.
After this season, if he does get traded to Atlanta, he would most likely resign with them and finish out his career there.

I watched the many interviews with him on TV and noticed he was very careful in choosing his words to each and every question. Obvilusly he had to be careful not to offend anyone in either Cincinnati or Seattle. I think he told the Seattle fans what they wanted to hear but will still retire a Red.

I hope so. As a longtime Mariner fan living in the Puget Sound area, I have missed seeing him here and would love to have him come back. I'm not the only one--he got standing O's for everything he did when the Reds came to Seattle. . . .
