i have a school of tetras in my 90 gal. tank and can't seem to find one. should i move the ornaments around to look for him?, or just leave it be? not sure if this will cause an ammonia spike in the tank.

well, actually its mostly an angelfish tank, but i also have a raphael, 2 plecos, and a few loaches with the school of tetras....maybe the raphael ate him??

theyre not small tetras, theyre big pristella tetras so i dont think they got sucked into the filter or the angels will eat them.

Check the "outside" places he might be first (on the floor in chase he jumped, in the filter).

If you don't find him there, go ahead and look in the tank just to be sure s/he isn't dead (in which case it's best to remove the fish - not only for ammonia purposes, but if this was a new fish with an internal infection/parasite, it's better for the health of the others). If it's a relatively new fish or a female with eggs, it may just be hiding.

Wow a 90 gal......It depends what Else you have in the tank. Do you have compatible fish with the tetras? Since they are relatively small they could be hiding depending on how many other plants rocks you have in the tank. They can also be in another fishes belly, ( hard to believe if you have a school of tetras.) I would do what you suggested, move things around in the tank at least that way you will know for certain. As far as an ammonia spike I wouldn't worry about it much. The size of your tank won't make it harmful enough to harm any other fish you may have, nevertheless I would test reading with a NH3/ NH4 Ammonia Test Kit from the fish Doc. With a 90 gallon tank why don't you try some fish like a Frontosas, or Arrowanas. They will both grow beautifully in your tank, plus they are not as common and a eye catcher for guests and viewers. good luck finding the fish.

could be that the plecos or the rapheal ate him
what kind of tetra was it if it was small enough
it could have got sucked up your filter
and i would advise moving stuff around like you said beware of ammonia spikes
and you mentioned angelfish they tend to be agressive and territorial and may be attack the tetra

depends on the size of all your fish and how big the tetra was if the angels are big they would eaten it i wouldn't keep the tetras in with the angels when the angels get bigger because yes they will get eaten
