Following extensive Worldwide coverage by the McCanns ,together with a huge fund-raising Campaign.
Can anyone blame them, for not trying to get a Slice of the Pie?
Your comments please ? Extortion is stronger than Con ?
Any Irony ?..........

An action like trying to extort cash from McCanns was due to happen ,sooner or later. guaranteed, inevitable, following the huge publicity, given to the whole affair, & the mammoth fund collected in
consequence.McCanns were negligent
in first instance & in my opinion have handled the entire situation, rather poorly & things still don't add up.!

I don't blame them for trying. If people offer this amount of money then really they have to expect people trying to con them. I have no money yet I constantly get e-mails trying to extort money from me as do most people. The difference is that most people don't get the press coverage and the fraudulent companies go unnoticed so that many more of us can get conned. What is the difference between the grandmother who loses her pension and the McCanns? I guess the grandmother actually loses her money and no one cares, whereas the McCanns lose nothing yet make the headlines. There are bad people in the world. That will never change but the focus on what is important can.

I think it says a lot about us when we do expect things like this to happen! I also was not surprised when it was suggested that it was an attempt at extortion!
However, it does not mean that it is acceptable. These two people have some very nasty working habits including child traffiking and child abuse! So you a fan of theirs are you?
I always knew there were people who supported such scum but really to advertise it on yahoo answers is a bit much!

Are you really trying to imply that the actions of people who tried to pretend that they had information about the whereabouts of Madeleine in order to extort money from her parents are justifiable? And that their actions are somehow more acceptable than were those of Madeleine's parents who are actually only guilty of an error of judgment albeit one with catastrophic consequences.
Have you considered the intent of the con artists as against the intent of Madeleine's parents? The allegation against the 2 in custody is of them knowingly committing a criminal offence. Madeleine's parents, and I defy anyone to provide evidence to the contrary, meant to keep their children safe but hugely misjudged what was required.
To compare the two and invite people to prefer those of the con artists is pathetic and, as I have come to expect, totally illogical. Then again, why let the truth get in the way of a good smear tactic.

yes i can blame them regardless of anybodys opinion of madeleines parents they lied about HER she could be dead or have the most awful things happening to her right now and some people see pound signs and use madeleines disappearance to get money for themselves did you know the guy had been in jail for mistreating a child his own daughter aged 6 so its hardly as if this was an act of innocence or just wanting 'a slice of the pie'

The McCanns have been sly from the start but it doesn't give anybody else the right to con them either. Two wrongs don't make a right.

It seems a little unfair to me that...............the McCanns have not been arrested for extortion and child cruelty leading to the possible murder of their daughter.

It happens and these people should be prosecuted...
this happened when people made false insurance and death claims after 9/11
really sad people saw an opportunity for themselves out of somebody elses grief and remember these are our donations and not tax payers money so really the money is for the cause..
