Oh briddlebrimstonesticks... this hoary old chestnut has been around for a hundred years or so, and the 'Net just propagates it exponentially. The 'black spaniard' number originates from Beethoven's last domicile, where he died, 'das Schwarzspanierhaus' (demolished in Vienna 1904) where the 'black spaniards' were an order of monks with black habits who originally lodged there. His parentage was from east Belgian peasant stock in the vicinity of 'Biethof' in Belgium, or historically then the southern Netherlands. And because of the Spanish dominance of the Netherlands in the 16th and early 17th centuries, until 1632, the link has been manufactured to make the thesis fit, asserting African ingress via Spain and then into Belgium, etc etc etc, citing Beethoven's vigorous rhythmic impetus as proof of 'black ethnic' roots. It's cobblers. Fanciful cobblers. Quite funny cobblers. But still cobblers.

Man I am so surprised that you went to the library and only looked at one picture. Man this is really a dumb question.

Not only was he white, so was his hair.

No, he was caucasian.

And 'pianist' is the word, not 'pianoist'.

No, but he was very dark-complected, so much so that when he was young he had a nickname "the Spaniard".
