Ok, we have a new baby on the way and a 16 month old son now. Our son's room is currently a pastel blue (like baby powder blue) and we know since the housing market is horrible- that our house may not sell for quite a while. So we wanted to make our new baby's nursery as cute & comfy as possible while we are there. We would actually like to paint it sage green (like a very light mint color) so when we find out the sex we can just add blues or pink accessories to the room instead of painting. The rest of our house is already whites and tans with neutral carpeting and wood and tile floors. The question is: Do you think with a powder blue room and a sage green room, our house will sell? Any opinions would be greatly appriciated. Thanks in advance.

My townhouse just sold in two weeks. Every single one of my rooms is bright WHITE with beige carpet. I'm telling you, that's what people want! THere are a few other townhouses here for sale too, but they have green, red, yellow, etc paint, yuck yuck yuck - and guess what, they haven't sold yet!

I actually learned this trick from my parents who have sold and bought many homes throughout the years. They have always left their walls white and had beige carpets and their houses have always sold within weeks. I know, it's sound weird at first, but it makes total sense. Who wants to look at a color they don't like and think 'uggh on top of moving, I have to paint too!'

Well, I would go ahead and paint it what I wanted, and then when the time come you should be fine, I mean people can always paint two rooms if they need too. Id would rather paint 2 rooms than to have to paint the whole house, neutrals are great so you dont have to worry about it i dont think. People do understand when kids are involved. Good Luck!

Keep it as neutral as possible. Although paint is inexpensive and relatively easy to change, people respond to color. I like the green idea with accessories to accent the room.

I recently showed a house that was various shades of purple (dark to light) in every room. *UGH*

I would buy a house with a green room but not a powder blue room. I love the new greens that are out now.

I think that most anyone would be able to understand that this is a nursery--and since it is just one room, it would be easy to re-paint. You could even offer to re-paint ivory of white at the buyer's request.

Sounds OK. Many people might like the colors - and if they don't, they can repaint. The colors in the main common rooms are more important, and sounds like your colors there are very neutral.
