They say an idle mind is the devil's workshop. What if the devil's mind is never idle?

great question

hands have to be the workshop, if idle. I'm going out on a limb and suggest the fingers would have to be the toolbox.

Fingernails=ext. chord and drill bits.

Can't figure out the rest....wait a minute, in this metaphorical?

I think you might be missing the point of the saying. They are talking about your mind, not the devil's. They are saying that if you mind is idle, you are leaving an opening for the devil to come in.
HOWEVER, whoever told you the saying got that wrong, too.
The quote is "Idle hands are the Devil's workshop" or "Idle hands are the Devil's tools". Basically, it states that if you get lazy, the devil will get you!

If the devil never sleeps then his mind is never idle.

But if your mind is idle, then the devil can take up shop there.

It is people's minds that the devil works in when they are idle.
The devil connects to people's minds when they are not doing God's work.
So don't let him in.
