my fiance's mom wants me to help her to paint the garage is it safe for me to be around the paint or no?

make sure the paint has no lead in it (most these days dont) and be in a well ventilated area

I painted my sons room when i was pregnant .You should read the back of the paint can and look for the warning label.The one thing that you shouldn't do is use a paint sprayer. Also open windows and doors and wear gloves dont let the paint come in contact with your skin.

As long as its a water based paint, and well ventilated, than its ok. Make sure you take breaks as often as you need them, dont over work yourself, and stay hydrated. Happy Painting!!!! :)
